A medium-sized tetanuran theropod from the Early Jurassic of Argentina; Piatnitzkysaurus is a lithe predator with robust forelimbs. It is known from a sub-adult specimen that was around 4.3 meters (14 feet) in length, but the animal was not done growing. Piatnitzkysaurus was a close relative to the theropods Marshosaurus and Condorraptor (the latter of which lived alongside Piatnitzkysaurus), and together they're known as Piatnitzkysaurids. Their placement in the theropod family tree has been contested; with some believing them closer to Megalosaurs and others believing them closer to Allosaurs.
